Allan: Re: "Most of us are well aware of the quality work that the B-Man does, both in his newsletter and on the weekend radio shows. I have always maintained that there is something sinister about the anonymity of posting in public forums that causes some people to post and say things they never would in person. Responding to such idiots just perpetrates the negativity. Why soil the thread with stupid pissing contests with fools?" Thanks for the response. On one level, you are absolutely right. If you or I got in a pissing match about anything, who would care and what would it matter? Regardless, I am not looking for a pissing match. Brinker is a public figure who derives his living (by choice not necessity) from being a man of knowledge and integrity. Many here believe they know that Bob Brinker is not a "flat out" "liar" as it would seem RIllinois believes at this point on at least the New Asia issue. But there are some here who do not know Brinker that well and may be visiting here for the very first time. If they see that in print, well, you know what will happen: "You know, Marge, I don't listen to Brinker. My friend read on the net that he is a 'liar.'" Word would spread like wild fire over the internet that Brinker is a liar faster than a Brinker sell signal. Soon the news media could get wind of this and visit the thread for background investigation on an article. They will see it stated here and accepted by implication as unchallenged that Brinker is a "liar." Maybe they will do a hit piece on Brinker on that basis alone. Of course, this seems somewhat far fetched but you see my point: once you accept the "liar" characterization as fact, it takes on a life of its own and the stigma attaches to Brinker and can never be removed no matter how hard Brinker or anyone tries and despite the truth. Now I don't always agree with Brinker, but I do respect him and I will stand up for his integrity. On the issue of integrity with respect to a public figure, there can be no shades of grey -- one either has it or he doesn't and once it is lost in the minds of the public it can rarely, if ever, be reclaimed. So if somebody thinks Brinker is a "flat out" "liar" on this point or any other one had better back it up with irrefutable evidence or back off. Perhaps RIllinois will see this in the next few days and revise or explain his comments as I asked. Maybe it was a poor choice of words. I have to give him the benefit of the doubt. It seems the right thing to do and Brinker deserves no less despite any disagreements one may have with him. On the other hand, if he does not respond, then everyone can read his posts from now on with the knowledge that RIllinois thinks Brinker is a "flat out" "liar" and therefore must have no integrity whatsoever but is nevertheless "a great source for investment information, knowledge and philosophy." Then they can judge his posts as they see fit with this knowledge in mind.
