HP's desktop- and mobile-client business achieved very good growth in revenue and units. Revenue growth was excellent for the HP Vectra family of corporate PCs this quarter. The HP Pavilion family of home PCs achieved explosive growth in revenue and units. Strong demand for PCs with a price of $999 (U.S.), as well as the introduction of a PC with a price of $799 (U.S.), drove much of this growth. The recently introduced HP BRIO line of small-business PCs achieved outstanding market acceptance, and new offerings in the HP OmniBook line of mobile PCs fueled very strong growth in this product family.

HP was the fastest-growing top-tier PC vendor in the world during the calendar quarter that ended Dec. 31, 1997, according to preliminary information from International Data
Corporation (IDC).
