Very good arguments....The Compaq thread should visit here for in depth analysis.<g>

Who wants CPQ to buy Ascend now?

I think it would be a good time for Compaq to impliment a change in their distribution methods to bolster investor confidence and market presence. I think Intel is sending them a big message! Will it be recieved?

I'm definitely buying puts on the next suckers rally! Right after Tim announces his purchase!<vbg>

1. why would i want to purchase cpq (decreasing revenues?) and not asnd (increasing
revenue)? i have noticed people mentioning cpq as a great buy under 30, and continues to
be a bargaint he lower it heads.

blankmind,

You made it a one or the other. I ahve learned to not put all my apples in one cart. I have enough Ascend. If I had neither, ASND or CPQ, I would definitly buy ASND. However, we are in a pricy market and I already own a lot of ASND. I need to buy other stocks is all.

2. cpq will have revenue problems for at least 2q's

This is clear.

3. will the merger with dec really help with this problem?

I do not have enough information to give a good answer.

5. no new operating system leap as windows to win95, win98 is not revolutionary as
win95 (more like windows to wfw), and will not demand the same upgrades, if any for
most people and companies.

This is also true. However there a lot of applications to use on the net that needs more "power". Real video/audeo. Various java scripts etc. Many people will want to upgrade their boxes to one with more speed.
