My rule: Whenever I hear guys bearish on tech., then I know it's time to buy them at a discount.

I think I read somewhere where CPQ said their server business was slowing down. Then I read that Dell is making a server plant. Perhaps Dell is winning CPQ's server market share.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Mike

Greg,

I like to believe what the management said about their company's prospect. However, I was in the same situation last year with Westin digital. If you remember, Seagate come out with warning last year on profit, both WD and QNTM come out saying their company is doing fine.
In less than 3 to 5 weeks both companies came out with warning and the stock price tanked big time. My point is that IF we have a price war because of over-capacity, no one know how low the price of PC will go and hence the company's bottom line until everyone loss money and start to close factories. I am trying to get a handle on whether CPQ just have a company specific problem that will go away with one or two quarters of bad earning for CPQ. Or a scenario in which PC companies as a whole builded way too much capacity in the last few years and when the demand does not growth in step then we start to see inventory problems --> pricing problem big time.

Also remember that Dell stock at this level
need to do gangbuster business to justify the price (need to grow profit at least 30% to 50% YTY). Doing good won't help much
