Sounds like an insider trading question. Since the news is public on the DEC merger, I don't see any restriction for the company or insiders to trade at this time. One theory on the INTEL thread is that CPQ isn't making money because of embracing <$1000 PCs and moving the price point down on all the rest. This if partially true makes the enterpise business and network solutions discussed in the 96 annual report more important and the DEC merger IMO is critical to CPQ who is getting a steal. Check the DEC thread for real valuations on this deal after subtracting DEC's liquid assets.CPQ is a buy IMO but it will take awhile for all these matters to clear up as to margins,DEC consolidation/direction etc. Maybe therefore Leaps are the play?

Sorry Peace The rumors became fact now it looks like it will take time to sort things out. This is not the end of the bad news for the market as a whole but the beginning i think. Even with the announcements by INTC and MOT the market just charged ahead. Expect other missed quarters to show and the market to correct a bit. that should keep the cap on CPQ for a while. Good news is that we should be near bottom. Bad news is I doubt very much if you are going to see the quick snap back that most on this thread are praying for. Management already said that the problems will extend into the second quarter so i see no reason for anyone to rush in and load up on CPQ. Just keep an eye on the chart. When it's over you will know it.
