I just watched Steve Young's report on CNN Financial News, he states that Compaq's efforts to move their unsold inventory will place pricing pressures on Dell...Dell will have to cut prices to match the competition...Lower prices mean shrinking margins...CPQ has 200,000 unsold boxes... that's huge...and frankly, anyone would be better off buying a 200-233 mhz CPQ for $1,000 vs a 333mhz Dell for $2,499... the software now available isn't going to perform any better in a 333mhz high end unit from Dell than it will in a slightly older unit from CPQ...consumers know this and Compaq will move those boxes...The public will hold off their next upgrade until the 1,000 mhz units come on line, and that won't be far off...
