Tex - I'll answer you questions with FACTS 1. Ron Cole is quoted throughout Business Weeks 2/23/98 issue.Ron Cole is from OGI one of the premier research facilities in the country.Members who get reports are Microsoft,Intel ,Lucent and more. Fonix has a collaboration with OGI and that Ron is very "excited" about. If you go into the OGI website, and go into Center for spoken Language, then press research projects, then press Large Vocab. you will see ongoing research with the sponcers at the bottom of the page: INTEL,FONIX,ONR . (Office for Navy Research )Also you can see BW quoted John Oberteuffer one of the countrys formost authoritys on VR and former consultant for LHSPF for developing their SOFTWARE.Now John is Vice President of Technology for Fonix. 2.Try Nathan Myhrvold Chief Technology Officer at Microsoft quotes on General Magic's Serengeti who wouldn't be able to do text to speech at all if it wasn't for AcuVoice ( a division of Fonix ) or just figure Microsoft just signed so it has to be good. 3." The products now on the market,he says are just not good enough yet" says Microsofts Nathan Myhrvold.I guess that means a straight forward Dragon,LHSPF- SUCKS according to Microsofts own man.Fonix is not on the market yet so he is NOT talking about FONIX just Dragon,LHSPF and all the others that are.Are they waiting for next generation FONIX ? Well they just signed with General Magic for second generation text to speech with Fonix/Acuvoice technology inside. That will be integrated with Microsofts Outlook and Internet Explorer according to Nathan Myhrvold,Chief Technology Microsoft and dear friend of Brian SI. 4.Again Fonix is not on market yet and has NOT been reviewed except for the fact that AcuVoice /Fonix Serengeti won all the awards for best text to speech AVIOS 97 and Computer Telephoney Expo 97,that's all. customers of AcuVoice are very pleased with the Acuvoice/fonix text to speech applications according to AT&T who has a contract with them, others give AcuVoice rave reviews also but TEX time for Bed . Hope that helped you TEX Sincerely,Gary Strong

I too am a newcomer to this thread. I currently use Dragon Continuos Speech and find the product amazing. No longer do you pause between words. I speak as I would normally. In fact if I fall back to the speak and pause mode the errors begin to show up. Of course I still do get some errors with words that are uncommon or proper names, however at this time I no longer begin documents by typing. The product is especially useful for summarizing long documents as you read them. I have actually dratfed contracts using tthe Continuous Speech product as formatting is very easy. My real question is how does the Fonx product compare to Dragon System's product? I have trouble believing that there could be a better product available given the performance I have now. The initial training time took me appro. 2 hours, half of which involves reading an entertaining Dave Barry story.
