This is my guess with some reasons:

I think cpq will close at about 22. While it's true some of the bad news was reflected in the stock price, I think the "break-even" news is much worse than expected. The consensus forecast had been lowered from 37ct/shr to 32cts/shr. A "Break-even" forecast from cpq is more severe than even the bears were forecasting. The Nas was able to shake off Intel and it even ignored MOT, but now it will be shaken. The magnitude of cpq's announcement will push the tech stocks down.

Not to fret though. If you are a long term holder the tech stocks will eventually recover. Incidentally, I am neither long or short cpq. Its just my 2cts. I'll put it on my watch list.

Ed:

I agree with you that much of CPQ's decline is built in already. Although, I hold a small position I sold off the majority of my position at 32 7/8 about 10 days ago. One of the few times I smelled a rat, the Nasdaq was humming, DELL was going crazy and CPQ was crawling. Wish I was smart enough to have kept it on the sidelines, if I liked the sale on Thursday, I think Monday's will be even better.

Which brings me to my next point that I think CPQ will test the teens on Monday and not close above 24 because there is going to be a foul mood. We blew off the MOT warning on Friday and if we do it again Monday Michael Metz is sure to be telling Lou Dobbs what maniacs and lunatics we all are. I don't think any of us want to see that. I think your fundamental arguments are sound, but just not for Monday.

Anyway, Your guess has grown the Kitty to $2, we have to get enough replies so that winner can at least rent a blind P.O. box so we all can send in our dollars. By the way since you said over 25 at the close I'll consider that 26, Nigel is in at 25 1/2. Have a good weekend.
