Iv2; No not e-trading, I have investigted two enough to know I wouldn't want them. Cheap trades are not all that there is to it. MM sweeps, check writing , free IRA, no transaction fees on many no load funds, plenty of offices and the ability to talk with a broker if need be all add up..and cause me to hang in with them in spite of the sometimes problems with their overly egotistic e-trade gurus. Taht is a big internet wide problem that the html writers seem to be inflicted with, they rather dazzel us with bullshit than get the job done. ------------------------- Ie- CORPORATE WEB SITES NEED BROAD APPEAL, SPEEDY GRAPHICS A recent report by Shelley Taylor & Associates, based in Palo Alto, Calif.,says that only three of the 100 Web sites it inspected -- those of AT&T, Bell Atlantic and Sun Microsystems -- managed to serve the needs of diverse groups, including investors, customers and potential employees. Most corporate Web sites focused too narrowly on one type of visitor, tarnishing the company's image in the eyes of other visitors. The group also found that many of the Web sites were painfully slow and badly organized, and that information took far too long to download. Often these negatives are the result of trying too hard -- packing the Web site full of glitzy graphics that may impress a few visitors with time on their hands, but annoying hundreds of others. (The Economist 28 Feb 98) ---------------------------- They don't seem to get it that their server also gets slow when they get a lot of trafic and have all that garbage packed into every transmission. Right down to sending differnt color buttons, when one color would do..I don't need a %#** Waterhouse logo on every trading sceern..after you log in it should be meat and potatoes..and get up and go..not a bunch of fancy little grahpics as if I can't read. ------------------------- I hate frames, but not as bad as maps..Maps are crapola when it come to getting something done. I by pass what a lot of idiots thing are good urls just because they take to long to get to the point, or think they have to send 4 or 5 cookies, or such. For all the wonders of the internet it sure is full a shitola and at times I think it gets worse with the so called improvements..SI is one of the few places that seems to have some sence in the way things are laid out. Yahoo isn't too bad..but most of the others depend to much on glitz and seem to want to impress us with tricks they can dazzel us with.. --------------------- Jim
