Funny, I was just asked a similar question in p-mail about the gin player.

Although he seemed to feel Jersey has it's own special rules about dealing with card cheats.

I replied with the following;
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In this guy's case it is a form of subtle ostracization. The better players
only play against him if there is a need for a player, and they all watch
him like hawks (even his partners).
He has a hard time getting a golf game, as he is a sandbagger.
Shooting him would be frowned upon, although probably not too
severely, because he pays dues to the club. If he were to die suddenly,
it would take a few weeks to replace the income.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Although my oldest machines are gone, the machines received names because of confusion in the household. It became easier to refer to them this way than to say "Put the data on the IIci".

"Which one is the IIci"?

So currently the "named" ones are Pythagoras, Euclid, Myrddin, HAL, Sidhe, Cuchulain, and Tain Bo Cuilgne.

I don't know if the ones with Celtic names would translate well in Texan.

Life is funny,

With respect to the story about the gin player, it was over dinner at the Belmont that we discussed the cheating.

So the fellow that told me about "Jersey Justice" just wrote me back. Turned out he attended the same Newark prep school I graduated from the year before, grew up in Newark's North Ward (the Belmont is located on the edge of the ward) and he now lives in Texas.

Between the 3 of us I would say this has come full circle.
