Christine, we can have the conversation here if you like. Most of what you've told me privately is worthy of being discussed publicly because you've brought up a number of interesting points. And while I don't condone homosexuality as a lifestyle, I am willing to discuss it with you here. Either that or be reminded daily that I have an unread message I need to respond to. <g>

For those of you who are wondering, Christine and I have been talking privately about this topic. She believes it is a topic worthy of discussion on the thread, while I, on the other hand, have my doubts. But because we're talking about it anyway, I will concede to her wishes to at least give it a shot.

My position is one based upon my interpretation of the scriptures taken from the Bible, and thus why the Christian community, IMO, cannot accept homosexuality as a viable lifestyle. It is not my desire to publicly denounce those who participate in this lifestyle. Any conclusion drawn by the reader that this may be my intention I in turn suggest is an inference based on the reader's own beliefs to the contrary.

I welcome all opinions on the particular subject matter as I'm sure Christine does also. However, unlike Christine's ability to meet obvious antagonism with a clear head, I will simply ignore the poster or establish a place on the Flame thread and respond in kind. I hope we can have a civil discussion on this topic.

Christine,

Nobody with a heart wants to punish children for their unfortunate lot in being born to society's dregs. My simple suggestions:

Stop encouraging the births of these children. Those who cannot take care of themselves cannot take care of children. Actively encourage or insist on birth control for those on welfare -- you want your welfare check, you get Norplant. No excuses. After all society has the ultimate leverage with that check.

Essentially, take care of the ones we have as best we can, and delay child bearing for those who are not yet responsible enough to be parents.

There will be lots of arguments, I'm sure. Some will consider this a heartless and vicious right wing approach to society's unfortunates. I deny this vehemently. Sure, not all welfare parents are bad parents, and not all non-welfare parents are good ones. No system will be perfect. But a case can be made that it is the current system which is heartless and causes untold pain in innocent children. A draconian or authoritarian approach can be supported purely from the point of view of caring for the welfare of the child.

We have talked about this before. Why won't it be done? Yeah, the P-word (politics). Nobody who has to stand for election can risk being called racist or anti-poor. True leaders, as opposed to politicians, do what they believe is right regardless of opinion.

Just some weekend musings, Christine. Hope you are well.

Jack

Hi Chrissy!!!

Well, I received some news from Janice. I'm sure your very proud of yourself for getting her booted off of SI.

Yes Yes, I believe in free speech and love to listen to different points of view!

I guess that old saying is true... "A greasy wheel is more likely to get oiled".

What do you do have a little cork board near your computer where you tally up your daily, I got them booted lists??

I have asked you now 5 times to quit posting to me or about me. Why you continue is beyond my understanding. It can only be because you get a kick out of stalking me and are trying to get me booted too. Just stop!
