I was also surprised to find a Zapata thread. Zapata used to be in the coal mining business back during the 70's and I worked for them about 4 or 5 years. Thought I sold all my ZAP stock in the late 70's but a few years back was informed I still have 4 shares! Wow! Was worth about $2 per share. My recollection is the ZAP stock I sold back when I left them was in the $70 range. Been reading the annual reports they have sent me recently. It is really sad to see what poor management (and the 80's oil bust I assume) did to the company.
Best of luck .

Chas

To the old shareholders that lost touch with this company. Zapata divested from the mining and crude oil business. . Here is a good link to start,
BTW, better find those certificates in the back of the closet, I hope you have a good quantity. ;-)

George Bush is has long since departed the scene, along with the company's profitability. After many changes in direction which included dumping the oil drilling service, they seem to be getting things together.

There was a stock split a few years ago, but it's the kind resulting in you holding fewer shares- a 5-1 reverse split.

Here's a link if you want to read a few news releases to get a better feel for the company's present direction.

I'll add that I work for Zapata's soon-to-be-spun-off Omega Protein, which is a marine products division, and a lot of the reason for the company's recent profitability. Uh, just for clarification, the division is doing well but not necessarily because I am a part of it.<g>
