Paul.....You got me....It's puzzling...CPQ says demand is slowing...DELL says it's healthy.........I think I have read in Investors Business Daily that all Computer Co.s revenues have been shrinking somewhat, year over year, but the numbers are still so large they are still very profitable.....Could Pfeiffer be refering, basically to a bungled strategy in their own company.....but wouldn't be very relevant for DELL and others?...........George

Paul, remember that Compaq uses the Channel, meaing distributors like Ingram Micro, Tech Data and Merisel. They also use the more traditional integrators like Vanstar, Micro Age, Entex etc........These places stock thousands and thousands of boxes, so even if Compaq is on JIT today they still have several hundred warehouses around the country with their "channel" that they have to give price protection to.
