Sorry to interupt your thread but I am interested in anybody's estimate on what the rate would be for the SAIPEM 7000. It is not a rig. It is the largest and most powerful floating crane in the world.
I took my son to see it today in the Halifax Harbour and it dwarfs the Rowan Gorilla III that had just been here.

It dwarfs the RGIII in size but obviously only lifts and does not have all of the capabilities of a drill or production rig.

Just wondering.

Very good and informative Thread going here. I am not an investor in offshore companies - only spec mining - But I am in the offshore Business.

Thanks in advance

Big Dog, Agreed on inspections. Rigs are naval vessels. As such the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) inspects the vessels pursuant to a schedule set up I believe by the US Coast Guard if they work US waters, and by the ABS itself for rigs flagged say in Panama and Liberia, etc., flag countries where separate specific rules are not posted....

Sincerely,

Doug F.
