nternational Absorbents Inc. - President/CEO of Operating Subsidiary Accepts New Position

BELLINGHAM, Wash., March 18 /PRNewswire/ -- International Absorbents Inc. (OTC BB: IABS), a leading manufacturer and marketer of sorbent products made from waste wood fiber, today announced that Geoffrey Lawrence, President and CEO of Absorption Corp., the Company's wholly-owned subsidiary, is leaving the Company to accept an alternative opportunity overseas.

''We appreciate the contributions that Geoff made to Absorption Corp. during his tenure, and we wish him well in his new endeavors,''
remarked Gordon Ellis, President & CEO of International Absorbents Inc. ''He has received an exciting and lucrative offer that the
Company is unable to match. Geoff will rejoin the firm he left before coming to Absorption Corp. and become Managing Director of its
new German subsidiary. The position also locates him and his family in Europe, something his wife has been campaigning for since they
lived abroad in the past. Geoff has done an excellent job of preparing Absorption Corp.'s existing management team to take over his
duties and has expressed every confidence that they will continue to improve the Company's fortunes.''

International Absorbents Inc. develops, manufactures and markets patented and proprietary, cost-effective sorbent products derived
from recycled, renewable materials. These environmentally safe products outperform conventional products used in a broad range of

commercial/retail animal bedding and litter. Further information about International Absorbents is available at www.absorbent.com.

NOTE: This press release may contain forward-looking statements with respect to the operations and business of the Company that
involve risks and uncertainties. These risks and uncertainties are detailed from time to time in the Company's filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
