Ral: FTEL will surely build on the tempest.As a platform that is designed for ip conversion rather then ip integeration it will make sense to stay in the ip areana with that product.The public internet is a dirty place ral.Not every product will be equal to each others when put in the same network.Voclf has not even released their class 3 or their carrier grade product yet.You can read that in The press release.And confirm with the company.The dialogic board they used in the demo is the same board they used in the same show before with some improvements.They aren't showing what they have for some obvious reasons, that the Industry That is going to use this technology has already been blindsided by companies promises that work well every where except when you plug them into the real internet.The dialogic board voclf uses now is basically the same board i sold installed and maintained for the exchange companies using a similar form of Iphone coupled with MSNT with a limit then of 4 ports because the first sale was exp and limited to the comm port config on the dialogic board.We then configed a pent with 2 dialogic boards and used my custom software to add 8 ports and started selling them to call centers.We sold to Sears, The eXhange ,ALL State and couple other Fortune 100 companies and Two RBOCS located throught the world.We sold them for 65,000 for a 4 porter 75 for a 8 porter. Ral That was in 1993 5 years ago.The net although some portions are clean as a whistle ,Through My 19 years of experience in the telco and 10 in IP communications Even if you own your own fiber theres problems.Voclfs Ensemble,ECI and Class 3 DSP logic boards when Deployed IN all of DT's network and the surrounding European area,will become the largest Internet Telephony Network in the World.This is commencing Jan 1999 with the pilot underway as I type.While I have quite an investment in FTEL I truly hope for My longer Position to be Bouyed by a much more robust and defined Direction.Mainly being able to sell and compete with the global carriers.They are an equiptment company and thus should be able to develope a carrier class product.Again their are many advantages of being an ITSP and alas there are many More advantages of being a supplier to ITSPS.While becoming an ITSP provider and selling tempest is the first step A carrier grade pure ip solution that is capable of interfacing across the globe at the same clarity that it can talk to within a pre defined internal IP network will be needed to Globaly Grow this company.The major deals Helen mentioned refer to local intranet comp to comp connections.That will generate rev but will not take us Global.BTW the way I enjoy MY day job is usually Comprised of 30% R&D 40% DAYTRADES 20% cookin or eating and 10% calling New companies. Regardless How Many with Thin Minds and thinner wallets get disfunctional to the extent of paranoidism I will own many ITSP stocks but I will not let myself be delusioned about who is better. Gonna Buy Them INgredients today.
