Dave,
I would say that it is based on gut feel, based on who I know, traders I am freinds with/know at other firms, etc.
I am not talking about the ability for a trader to do well in a bear market but the good traders are usually only the ones who understand the rewards of the short side. I know some traders who wont short anything, dont even think of it. I am just suggesting that some of thees onlie firms that have only been around for a few mnths, might fall by the wayside when volume dries up a good bit as a result of apossible market correction. I am not talking about the ability to make money in any market, up, down or sideways.

Regards,
