Windows is as proprietary an operating system as MacOS.

Apple lost out to Wintel becaused the boxes were cloned
and cheaper, not because Windows was an "open system."
It wasn't, it isn't, and it won't be unless DOJ forces it
so to counteract monopoly status.

People wanted a monopoly for their phone system for a long
time too. Even seemed to make sense at the time. But there
was a way around that technically. In any case, you either
get a regulated monopoly or a market for a defined technology.
Which prospect is liklier for OS?
