brian, again if you want to wait till 1999 i think the picture will get better. don't think 1996 can't happen again. also, my point is short term amat not going to have really any good news. you have to agree on that. again, techs and semi's usually get way overvalued during the booms and way undervalued during the busts. i also point out one-three months ago i've been hearing the second half of 1998 will be strong now i'm hearing 1999. what happen to second half? texas instruments(txn) management in their discusions with wall street basicly said they can't wait till get 1998 out of the way. good shorts. micron(mu) see their thread- i also think it might be safe to short dell and even microsoft. regarding dell-i think you going to knock down fight in pc's that will hurt margins in the whole group. microsoft- the stocks trading at such high valuation if anything wrong come through its down. also, as cramer said if microsoft pre announces or reduces future eps could end this bull market . any predictions on moday or who will pre annouce next week
