Well Mario, I confess to knowing very little about the man or what goes on with the company's other divisions. I'm only involved in the marine protein part. I've heard that he is indeed a shrewd character and knows how to make money. Turning around a sorry company is a great way to do that, I would think.

The marine protein division has benefited from a couple of things that are out of his hands, such as a significant rise in the prices of fish meal and fish oil, and the abundance of menhaden in the Gulf of Mexico during last years fishing season. This is the domain of the market and Mother Nature, but Malcolm took advantage of the situation by buying up two fish plants which are now no longer competition for Zapata's products. One of those two factories was the last remaining significant competition on the U.S. East Coast.

What he does with Envirodine or any other part of Zap's empire, I am clueless and only know what I read on the net, but must admit that he has taken impressive steps to pare down the company's long term debt and improve profitability.

I'm just trying to keep up with our divisions name changes. We've gone from Zapata Protein to Marine Genetics to the latest incarnation, Omega Protein, which will have an IPO some time in the future.
