Well I wouldn't go the PeeII route, Maximum money for minimal speed increase. AMD puts out the K6, and it runs about the same as the PeeII, meaning Id be surprised if anybody can see the difference, except in the FPU, but go and buy a better video card. And if you're working with Graphics I suggest waiting for the K6-3d, it's supposed to accelerate 3d calculations.

Yes, but sounds like he may be set up to benefit greatly from a dual-CPU environment. Granted, he said he did not want to spend top dollar, but if he went the AMD route, he would be closing the door on a dual-CPU system, since the K6 does not support SMP.
