The New York Sunday times in its Business Section Page 10 of March 8 has an article called the Newest Phone War. It deals with long distance costs, as part of the article there is mention of ATT.
"Att plans to start a cheaper service in May that will carry long distance calls over an Internet- style network. That service called ATT world net voice will start in three cities still to be announced and expand to 16 by the end of the year. ATT will charge 7.5 to 9 cents a minute for calls using internet protocol." A VP of ATT world net Service said that "In fact we think the Internet protocol is to the communications industry what the personal computer was to the computing industry; its that fundamental a change."

I read the paper as printed and don't have a URL for the article.
I am not implying that they are using FTEL equipment by quoting the article. I just wanted to be able to contribute to this thread that has given me so much fun and some rewards. Thanks to all the posters at the SHM.
