Thanks, jacek,

I am unable to register for EDGAR-Online, because the service won't accept my four-digit user name and five-digit password, which I use for a dozen or so on-line services, including this one. I refuse to learn a new user name and password just because the service is too arrogant or incompetent to accept whatever the customer wants.

However, I did note that there are one heck of a lot of 144 filings listed.

I did check the real EDGAR database, which doesn't report 144 filings, and I did check the latest annual and quarterly reports. AMZN is still bleeding badly, and that's without the added competition from Borders and B&N.

With all the new services AMZN is adding, including a semi-public-service sales channel for small publishers with lists of obscure titles, new business and marketing costs are bound to increase even more. Beats me how they are ever going to climb out of the hole.
