Mon 9 Mar 98 News Release
Mr Jonathan George reports
Lucero has the right to earn a 50% interest in three claim blocks in the
Buffalo Head Hills area of northwestern Alberta, the Seal Lake property,
the ITS property and the Fafner property. These three properties were flown
with detailed aeromagnetic surveys and a number of anomalies were
prioritized by the company's geophysical consultants. These results were
integrated with satellite imagery as well as digital topography and digital
magnetics.
On the Seal Lake property, extensive ground truthing of anomalies was
completed (using magnetic and electromagnetic methods). Four diamond drill
holes totalling 2,043 feet (622m) were completed. Three of these holes did
not reach bedrock (though they were drilled to depths of 427 ft, 385 ft and
277 ft respectively. The fourth hole was drilled to a depth of 477 ft and
reached bedrock of Smoky group shales at 416 ft. It seems obvious that the
source of the strongest, shallow, magnetic anomalies is within the
unconsolidated till and gravel deposits. The airborne magnetic data are
currently being re-evaluated to attempt to filter out the effects of the
overburden sheet. Seismic data are also being acquired in selected areas.
On the ITS property, ground magnetic and resistivity surveys have been
commenced on approximately 25 airborne magnetic targets to prioritize them
for drilling. Drilling is expected to begin in April and May.
On the Fafner property, an airborne magnetic survey has been flown and an
interpretation of this survey is expected shortly. Targets from this
interpretation will then be integrated with seismic data where possible to
prioritize targets for drilling.
