Barron, I'm merely passing along information that I believe would
be beneficial to the thread.

Whether a white box builder or a name brand builder I believe there's enough market and place for everyone to make money as long as we don't have these price wars.

No one wins in a price war, margins get squeezed and a few players might leave but the whole market suffers.

I would suggest that if CPQ had maintained their margin we wouldn't be having these discussions about the value of GPQ's stock, despite their overstock issue. I would agree with you that buyers should know who they buying from the cheapest IMO isn't the best.

Regards
Reseller

RE: " most of these whitebox sellers are fly by night operations".

Rather brazen statement for a scientist. What was the size of your sample? What was your sampling method?

From: Wired News Report

"A little more than a third of North America's 96,000 computer consultants, network and systems integrators and resellers identified in the study build their own unbranded PCs, the report found. Together, that added up to a US$7.6 billion market in 1997. "

Is that most of approximately 32,000 white box providers. I think you should be more scientific in your emotional non-study.
