Thoughtful post from Mike Cammarata on the Yahoo board:

Let's be more frank about Q1 earinings for ASND. Management has already told us that Q1 will be the most difficult to make out of all 1998. This is because Q1 is nearly totally relying on existing products for sales. GX550 revs won't really wash in until Q2. Other new products won't contribute until Q3 or Q4 time frame due to extensive tire kicking by carriers.

Also, there has been no kick to revs based on new 56K V.90 standard out. Notice that ASND has not come out and announced full compatibility with V.90 yet. Therefore, RAC sales are just sitting there waiting for the V.90 to be fully done and 'proved'.

So, based on this, we should just be realistic and practical and understand that Q1 isn't going to light anyone's pants on fire.
However, successive quarters throughout this year will look better and better based on tidal wave of new products that start to contribute revs later in 1998. Savvy analysts understand this new product cycle and will not neglect ASND because Q1 was not electrifying. The point here is to expect what will happen and be prepared for it. Look forward to Q3, not Q1.

Another good post from Tom Kurlak on the Motley Fool:

If you listen to the conference call after the 4th quarter numbers were out, the CEO/CFO sure sounded a lot more positive going forward. They stated that a lot of the software/hardware problems seems to be fixed now and that they had hired a lot more Quality Assurance Engineers to ensure better quality products in the future. Also, the CFO stated that going forward Revenue will be up Sequentially in single digits for the 1st/2nd quarter and double digits the next two quarters.

I am a firm believer of Revenues driving stock prices. If that is the case, I think we will see more upside on the stock in the second half of this year. Historically, the networkers are at their weakest during the 2nd quarter...
