Never look at the banners. But then I hardly ever look at any ad unless it is so damned obtrusive that it annoys me .... for example sponsors ads on sail boat sails ... in that case I stopped paying any attention to sailing as a sport even though I spent twenty years sailing in races.

RE:Amazon

See the front page of the NYTImes business section. Discussion about Amz, Barnes and N., and Bertelsmann A.G.. The author indicates that B&N and Bert. would appear to be better equipped to compete in this arena. There is a free link to the NYTimes if someone would post it but I paid a buck at the newstand to read this.

>>>In fact i don't even pay attention to the banner ads. <<<

Actually, I just clicked through my first banner ad not too long ago. the one for the new Yahoo! credit card. I didn't apply, but I did actually look it over.

Mongo re <THREAD SURVEY Who has bought anything based on an ad they have seen on the internet ?>

Answer - Never, because I never read them and have trained my eyes to skip right over them. This whole internet investing craze will demonstrate that history repeats itself, ie. --tulip bulbs mania.

The whole paradigm will change within one year.

<< THREAD SURVEY Who has bought anything based on an ad they have seen on the internet ? I for one haven't and I spend a good deal of my time on the net. In fact i don't even pay attention to the banner ads. Is this just me being conservative in my buying habits or am I missing something here? >>

I don't want to offend anyone but I'm getting awfully tired of that argument. I have heard it for months and it doesn't seem to make any difference.

There is so much more to internet stocks like YHOO than ad banners. Stick to the valuation arguments folks. YHOO will thrive...
