Sorry about your tomato plants, Del!!! They sound like they must be pretty forlorn and naked at the moment. Can you put some pretty flowered cotton flour sack dresses on them or something until they sprout some new leaves?

Could it be El Nino causing your hailstorms? My husband and I took a leisurely drive down the California coast today. At least the road was open, which it was not last week because of all the mudslides, and the sun was hot and the fields were all shades of green, some with tiny yellow flowers, and the ocean was the deepest blue I have ever seen it.

However, a parking lot along the beach had half fallen into the waves, and several houses had tumbled in, as well, or were well on their way. The storms will not be over until April or May here, and they are extremely powerful. Perhaps they have taken your tomato plants' leaves as well.

Nostradamus? I did not say that I believe in Nostradamus' prophecies, Del. I do believe that all of us have heard, on a subconscious level, so much about what will happen at the millennium from the religious people around us, that there is a general unease in the air as it approaches. And as I recall, I heard that something momentous would happen on, I belive, May 5, 2002. I just hoped that someone could remember and tell me what it was. Certainly there is no harm in keeping a date in the back of one's mind. I suppose it is like hedging bets, a little.
