08:36 ET Compaq Downgrades: Merrill lowers FY98 view by 35% to $1.00 and FY99 by 23% to $1.38. Lowers its near-term rating from "accumulate" to "neutral." AG Edwards cuts the stock to "reduce" from "maintain." But for all you CPQ optimists out there, DLJ is on your side. The firm ups Compaq from "buy" to "rec. list buy" Says investors should be buying on the dip. DLJ, however, not quite as bullish on Dell. Downgrades the stk from "rec. list buy" to "market perform."
