Moses could downgrade Dell & people will still continue to buy it. I imagine a great number of poor folk (such as myself) waking up early just to buy the now affordable Dell Computer. CPQ loosing market share in Asia & the question remains if the price cuts will leave them profitable.

scba, don't forget that he also stated as you and I already know,
that, CPQ's problem is "old inventory in stuffed in its channels with price protection for their distributors. John, also stated that "everyone of the box makers are trying to copy Dell's business model.

scba: According to IDC the PC market is still growing at a healthy clip of 15% or so annually,CPQ woes notwithstanding. For comparison PC growth rate was 17% in 1997,and who knows by year end we be back to 17% or a bit more depending how things develop in North America,Europe and the rest of the world.Just a thought.
