Dear Solution: Sorry you have had some bad weeks. You asked for a stock pick. Dont know your time horizon but I just bought some CPQ this morning at 24 9/16. I feel over the next 2 years or so pretty hard to get hurt at this price. My feeling is that if DEC deal goes through could mean really good things for CPQ long term If it flops likely CPQ would go up initially as analysts were generally against the deal at this time. As to ALYD hard to imagine anything negative is not already priced into the stock. I have been disappointed in earnings so many times on this company that I no longer have an opinion. I just wait and see what comes out. JDN

You wrote, "I'd like to think that earnings will be consistent with those reported
and any small loss has been factored in the current price drop."

Let's also not forget Bob Gruder's recent projection of $2 per share earnings by the end of 98.
