IDT to Purchase K&S' New 8000 Series Wire Bonders
WILLOW GROVE, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 9, 1998--Kulicke & Soffa Industries Inc. (NASDAQ: KLIC - news) Monday announced that Integrated Device Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: IDTI - news) has ordered 25 Model 8060 wedge bonders and 12 Model 8020 ball bonders for IDT semiconductor assembly and test facilities in Penang, Malaysia and Manila, Philippines.
K&S will begin shipping the order, valued at more than $6 million, during the current quarter.
IDT will use the wedge bonders to manufacture fine pitch microprocessors, and the ball bonders to manufacture high-speed static random access memories (SRAMs) for use in communications and computing products.

''Many of our customers are qualifying our new 8000 Series bonders for applications requiring the highest wire bonding performance, productivity and yields,'' said Michael Wolf, K&S vice president of sales. ''We are pleased that both of our new platforms have met, and in some cases exceeded, IDT's stringent requirements.''
