Gypsy, good luck on conjuring up that very cute guy!!! Ooo la la!!! And I hope you will enjoy Into the West, and let me know what you think, as well.

These Irish gypsies, or travellers, are probably not related to you, because their blood has been analyzed, and discovered to be exactly the same as that of the rest of the Irish. So they were not gypsies forever. No one really knows how they came to be, but people say that during the Irish Potato Famine in the 1840's, some people just took to the road in despair and never stopped again to make other homes. In any event, they are a spirited but sad people. They are called tinkers because historically they made their money selling tin--pots and pans--cottage to cottage, and repairing broken household items. The settled Irish despise them, and most villages have rules that they cannot even stop their caravans there for a rest. They are not allowed to drink in bars, either.

You know, Gypsy, I was thinking of magical movies to suggest to you, and there is another one, The Secret of Roan Inish, which is very good if you have not seen it already. It is also Irish, and while it is not exactly a gypsy movie, it is about some very magical people on an island off the Irish coast, who are very dreamy and are one with the sea, so to speak. It is mystical and beautifully filmed, and I bet you would really enjoy it, also.
