Well said. I used to believe that upgrades/downgrades were actually in the investors interest. How naive I was. It's strictly broker self-interest. Bottom line. Read what they say, but in most cases, do nothing, or do the opposite."

You are exactly correct. Learned at a pricey day trader's course, that,
when a brokerage house wants to BUY stock, they issue a downgrade, so people will panic and sell their stocks at a discount to them. The converse is also true. An upgrade means "they" want to unload shares.
This is from a broker.
And I saw it for proof on Level II screens.
