dude you need to watch your tape again...

you sell a put and THEY CAN PUT IT ON YOU!!!!
cube could be 10 but you have to buy the stock at 20

you are talking about selling a covered call....you get the premium...but they can take the stock away from you...

that is why you do this

cube pops back up to 19 or 20
you think it will be lower by march expiration
you sell the call and get the premium...if Cube is over 20 they can take the stock from you
if cube is lower than 20 ...you keep all the premium....

this is a way to repair the damage cube is doing to you.....if a stock languishes or goes down you sell covered calls on the stock...and the only risk you have is that it is called away from you at a certain price
and if you dont want it called away you can buy back the call...

what do you think some joker just did to me

you could have sold me my 22.5 calls when Cube was at 22..and you would be laughing all the way to the bank at options expiration this month..cause Cube aint going over 22.5

Not quite Larry,

You have to have the stock short in your portfolio. Then when
the stock is put to you at 18 you get to use the proceeds from the short sale to buy to cover by accepting the stock from the one
who exercised the put in exchange for the money in your short account.

It is the analog of a covered call. Call is replaced by Put. Long is
replaced by short.

A spread can also be called a covered put but most often is just called a bearish put spread or a debit put spread.

Actually the "safest" way to use options is to write naked puts
on stock you definitely wish to buy anyway or naked calls on stocks
you definitely wish to short. Although the latter is dangerous because
short positions are inherently dangerous, relatively speaking these
strategies have less downside risk.
