Hello Barney,

We go to Church, and strike up a conversation with those around us...buzz buzz buzz the many conversations make the sanctuary sound like the bleachers of a ballgame...it is very difficult to concentrate on God...the setting is very irreverent...we drink coffee now in the Sanctuary...preachers preach in casual attire...we sing ditty chorus',
throwing out stately hymns...we are so familiar with God, we are buddy buddy...we allow laity to pass out the communion...etc.

Now this is an interesting topic I think about sometimes. The church I go to when I'm living at home with my parents (I'm in college) is very relaxed, or unholy as you put it. They don't sing hymns very much, mostly contemporary praise songs. The laity does pass out the communion. It is not unusual to see people there in torn jeans or other not so great attire. Our pastor has even worn a hat once in service.

I'm very used to this in my service and actually am of the personal opinion that it is good that some churches are like this. If they weren't, where would the poor go without good clothes? I'm not sure what Jesus wore throughout the day, but I don't think he wore excellent clothes all the time. I was actually turned off to church before I became a Christian because I thought everyone was acting hippocritical by dressing up very nicely on Sunday's and putting on a shiny face while acting very far from Jesus the rest of the week.

I'm not sure if my current opinion is right, but I'm wondering where your stance comes from. Care to share it?

God bless,

Grant

Barney, thank you for giving me an opportunity to make a short and definite statement that I keep harping on and around and never touching on. What you said is the entire thing. But I have said to my dearest Christian friends that I cannot and will not disentigrate my knowledge of God down to some "jive ___ Jesus you slap on the back and call "Bro".

There is something evil about it Barney. It's just evil, that's all.
And it escalates. And I can't say anymore as that says it all. Women bobbing around to the beat in church, clearly jiggling and they know it, women on a platform drowning out the praises of the congregation as they swing their hips to the music of a pagan beat EVEN TO HOLY, HOLY, HOLY, the most sacred of all hymns, constantly screamed now over bar music rifts of drums and bass guitars.

If it is not madness what is it. The king simply is no longer clothed. Just because people say he is, he isn't. But this is no child's story to get a point across. It is what we have replaced the Holy of Holies with--The Holy of Holies, where the rope was around the High Priest's waist so when he was playing games and was faking it in any way, they could pull his dead body out. That's where it started.

I say this to go out into the air a million miles, but of course it won't.
It won't go anywhere, unfortunately.

Dear Barney:

Your comment i. e. >>>>>Bob, in all due respect, I don't think ANYONE should even venture to touch that Ark.
What about God's Holiness? Awesomeness? <<<<<<

Before Christ I would agree with you. But this is now. Through Christ we have the right , the priveledge and the righteousness ( right standing ) to approach God, to talk to Him as did Moses. The thick, effective veil has been rent by God. No longer do we have to speak to God through the high priest, or be healed by God through the high priest.

My dear dear sibling wear your righteousness well. Stand tall in it's effectiveness. It's price was beyond comprehension.

One reason I feel that the world has chosen to set it's sights against me is that while I know the nature of my old person rears it's head at times; that is why Paul said we must crucify the flesh daily; I am comfortable with the knowledge of whom I am in Christ.

To some , just in the last few days, this is interpreted as irreverance or lack of awe, or lack of humility towards God.

But I know my God. I am comfortable with His presence, I am expective of His reproof, I trust in His judgement, and though He slay me yea will I trust Him. As a nation that is Holy and Righteous, as a people that are a royal priesthood; should we not feel comfortable touching holy things.

Think of the trust that God places in us when He sends us to give a testimony or to witness to a lost soul. Think of the trust God places in us when He gives us the power to pray for a sick child, or a marriage on the rocks or a prisoner on death row. Think of the absolute devotion God gives US when we depart from Him and He patiently protects us and lovingly brings us back to His loving arms.

As for me and my house would we touch the Ark, absolutely. Would we honor the responsibility, absolutely.

""But I think before I did I would take Holy Communion, and ask God to forgive every last little sin up to that nanosecond in time, to make right every ought against my brother, and to set my heart on Him, completely and then ask Christ to be interceding for me at that exact point in time..It would be an awesome thought""......gregor
