Interesting report. Sounds like it was written by an accounting weenie (no offense, Clam Clam). I think he underestimates the magnitude of effort required to integrate the apps. And he also seems to discount the distinct possibility that Scopus prospects in the pipeline are going to want to see a clear migration path (e.g. if we invest in a UNIX architecture now does this mean we'll have to buy NT boxes later?). This will translate into a longer sales cycle and/or increased discounting and/or an opportunity for Vantive and Clarify to create FUD. SEBL/SCOP revenues post-merger will not necessarily equal the sum of projected revenues now.

The other interesting point was that he thinks $206M total revenues approximates 55% of the market. This means that the total market size is approximately $375M. Wonder what his definition of 'market' is? Sounds like SEBL/SCOP/VNTV/CLFY if my math is right.

Melissa,

The lehman analyst's differing opinion is what makes investing so interesting. I don't know skiba's background, but I can promise you that Shege has much much more industry experience in the trenches dealing with the integration issues than most of the analysts on the street. Analyst opinions can impact short term trading, but it's the folks in the field living out the challenges that can add much more value.

I also happen to think the lehman analyst is completely wrong, I bet we'll have a "gleeful" analyst meeting out of vantive tomorrow.

Melissa, I've listened to Shege carve SEBL up for two years about how they won't make it, product problems, overvalued, big headTom, not a niche player,in bed with board members. But the sad thing here is, he may be knowledgeable about software applications. But it clouds his stock selecting views. Believe me he has always glorified VNTV. As a matter a fact, I cant recall much of anything pertaining other stocks movements he has been correct about. So don't let his bias toward SEBL affect your judgement. Not that you need my advise, just thought I would let you know my thoughts. keep posting and good luck.
