Michael: Finally!! So the Teledotcom article was correct:

Should we believe MOT?

....With the new circuits, ADSL modems will require five chips instead of 11, Motorola says. The new chips, which Motorola will introduce formally in mid-March ,...

...Motorola says the new ICs will be available commercially in June.

...The CopperGold ADSL Solution includes the highly-integrated transceiver (MC145650), the performance-optimizing and power-saving line driver (MC03AX1456), and a wide array of complementary components tailored for specific applications such as Ethernet transceivers (MC68160), ATM Cell Processors (MC92501), and many host control options (MPC860, MPC860SAR, MCX683xx, MC68EN302/360)...

I'm trying to recall the power requirements for the line driver. I think it WAS about 2-3 watts, but I'm not sure. Here's a discussion question... with a MOT G.LITE implementation, how much power savings would one see? The LU/Westell solution is looking for a G.LITE DMT solution to implement in the 5ESS platform..... until later.

Telechoice's comments on release..."Westell noted a word of encouragementin the press release: "Westell has a long-standing commitment to quality and interoperability, and working with Motorola will allow us to continue that tradition," said Marc J. Zionts, chief executive officer of Westell Inc. But this stopped well short of saying that Westell intended to implement this in any of its solutions. Westell announced a deal with TI/Amati for DMT development recently.
