I'm not saying that it will happen (earnings in 50 cent range), and if it did, it would probably be because Intel charged what were really (somewhat discretionary) 2nd quarter expenses, charges and writeoffs to the first quarter, to set up a favorable (or MORE favorable, or less unfavorable) situation for the 2nd quarter.

Companies OFTEN do this in bad quarters, get all the bad news out and over with all at once so that the following quarters are unimpared. But it can make a bad quarter really bloody.
