Okay, this is definitely an IMHO type answer........

I don't believe that combining 2 relatively "weaker" companies will form a
strong one. Additionally, the combination of technology will be impossible
between the two. They are completely different. So if the companies joined,
and they couldn't have a combined product there is no advantage. Prospects
would be confused, sales reps would be confused, etc, etc.

I don't see an advantage to the scenerio. More likely would be a strong
company (MSFT, HP, etc) taking it over.
