WSJ Rebuttal:

Look over 1996 4 quarter sales in comparison to 1997. Notice that EVEN THOUGH CPQ sub $1000 were sold for three quarters in 1997 they STILL have the same profit margins OR HIGHER in 1997. They have the industries highest gross profit margins, like around 27% I guess, in comparison to DELL which is around 5% lower... so they can build and sell the sub $1000 and still make good money, AND they have from 6 months to a year lead on other box makers! What with their price protection dropping to 15 days they stand a good chance of maintaining their market position for these two quarters and if the DEC merger is as smooth as the Tandem was they shoudl be extremely well positioned in Q3 and Q4.
