Ericsson on WCDMA IPRs

from wcdma.com

IPR statement

Ericsson on intellectual property rights with regards to the
Wideband CDMA (WCDMA) technology proposal for
Universal Mobile Telecommunications Services (UMTS).

In relation to European Telecommunications Standards Institute's
(ETSI) on-going standardisation efforts for UMTS, Ericsson would
like to make the following IPR statement:

With regards to UMTS, Ericsson is of the opinion that it has
patent(s) and/or pending patent application(s) relating to the
WCDMA proposal.

Ericsson is fully prepared to grant licenses to these patents on a
fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory basis in accordance with
the terms and conditions set forth in Clause 6.1 of the ETSI IPR
policy.

In support of a healthy growth of the telecommunications industry,
Ericsson favours a low-level royalty compensation approach.

Just FYI to all, although we see press releases as to new contracts, the majority of them do not get published. It is surprising just how many contracts Ericsson receives per month that go unknown. They are mentioned in the monthly or ?quarterly internal Ericsson magazine.
