Well said, except the part about short term trading. I don't argue with folks styles, if that is what they are comfortable with. I've got a friend who made $2 Mil trading MSFT over the past several years and he does have an uncanny knack to know when to jump in and out of it. I don't recommend it, but each to their own. I do have a core holding of QCOM and been known to trade other shares, plus dabble in calls/puts. Can't complain about the money made.

Until a real bear market presents itself, I'll just target invest, as I have for 20 years and keep a core holding of blue chippers for the very long haul (albeit IBM proved that strategy painful for 10 years).

Today's hype is tomorrow's lawsuit!!

Gregg,

I am kidding. Of course. However, it is somewhat frustrating about owning a stock without any movement. Either it should go down as Ramsey pray for or go down as all QCOM longs wish.

I had owned YHOO with a 500% return in a year. I got out because of "hype" valuation. As you may be aware, it continues to go up after I got out at $66. There you will understand my frustration. The same hold true to other stocks like AOL, Earthlink, Amazon, etc. It was hyped to an unbelieveable valuation. You see. Whoever got in early had a good run.

Thank you for your explanation. It is nice to have you around. Thanks again. I still think QCOM needs some hypes like ERICY or NOKA had.

Brian H.

Gregg, very nice post--if we have to stick the Q in an Xmas stocking before it's open the present time, it's okay with me. Course a few peeks before hand wouldn't be too hard to take!
You know the heavy responsibility I bear as resident thread technical leader. Hell, engineer and I were driving the
vans around in the early days: his van had all these gizmoes, mine had some neat Hobie boards and a devilshly clever on-board keg dispenser.
Anyway, what will all the excitement of Ramsey's return (NAZ down 28, welcome home big guy I've got a Greyhound ticket to TJ anytime you're ready to re-pack), seems the thread lost track of an earlier post regarding MOT's announcement of Iridium going to CDMA for the second generation. Under normal circumstances, the pooch's tail would be at 2800 WPM (wags per minute), Jim Frost would have lapsed into a coma as a result of hyperventilation, and the Ripple supply in Tim's neighborhood would be on quarantine.
Given the disarray, would you kindly comment on what I see as a virtual signed statement from Schaumburg that admits that they stepped in it by using TDMA on Gen 1? Thanks, Mike Doyle
