Cover of 3/9 Computerworld: SUPPLY CHAIN BREAKDOWN -- This is a huge article with sub-articles quoting autos (inc. GM), Union Pacific, Nabisco, and others. (None of the Y2K vendors are discussed.)

Lead-in:
"The way things are going, your retail shelves will be empty; your assembly line will have nothing to assemble; your emergency room will lack lifesaving devices. Experts say may suppliers are clueless about fixing their systems for the millennium and are headed for failure." <------ This is the strongest statement on Y2K I've seen yet in Computerworld.

CONECTIV (the merged Atlantic Energy, Inc. and Delmarva Power and Light Co.) "So far, this utility's business managers have failed to account for computer systems that were created outside the company's information systems organization including SYSTEMS FOR GENERATING AND DISTRIBUTING POWER." (my bold-type). "The $3m project . . covers only those systems, such as billing, which were written and maintained by the utility's IS group." "We're starting to pick up a ton of mail from shareholders and customers we supply power to asking what we're doing in terms of year 2000."

There's a whole lot more. (I' not sure, but maybe this article can be accessed on the computerworld website.)
