Citibank Chooses AT&T Solutions to Manage Data Networks
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 10, 1998--Citibank, which provides financial services
to consumers and corporate customers around the world, and AT&T jointly announce an agreement
in which AT&T Solutions will manage a significant portion of Citibank's data networking
requirements worldwide. The five-year agreement, valued at $750 million, is estimated to save
Citibank approximately $250 million in operating costs, by transforming Citibank's multiple data
networks to a single new, state-of the-art networking platform.
Stan Welland, head of Citibank's Global Technology Infrastructure Division, said, ''This partnership
with AT&T will improve our overall network service quality and reliability, and at the same time
lower our operating costs. Furthermore, as a global financial services provider, Citibank will benefit
from AT&T's proven expertise and vast resources in providing global telecommunications services.''
Under this global agreement, AT&T, under Citibank's direction, will effect the regional migration of
multiple data networks to a common Global Data Network (GDN) platform to be managed from
AT&T Solutions' Global Client Support Center (GCSC) located in Durham, N.C. "
