I'm curious what others think at this point. Maybe this is just a stroke of bad luck for SVGI - focusing in on Korean sales right before the meltdown. Not my first reaction though. It sounded like a convenient excuse for weak orders. The assumption for many people has been that SVGI has little Asian exposure- and so relatively safe. Either this misses the point of a focus change, or the announcement is somewhat bogus.
The line has been that they can sell as many Micrascans as they can make, which I doubt for the moment. Aside from ASML possibly, canon and Nikon I believe have announced reductions in projected DUV shipments for this year. So the announcement may be just a reflection of industry conditions, perhaps even a buying opportunity seen in that light. I'm most concerned with competitive positioning - if everyone else is doing horribly, that's ok. Anyone following ASML have news on how they're doing?
