I think that might be true for the small companies. For example, we have a client where it would cost between $100,000 and $300,000 to remediate their code. Well, guess what...they can get new stuff cheaper...probably including equipment. However, they don't drive the equimpent market. GE and all the other huge conglomerates (sp) drive the market. Their code, I don't believe, can simply be replaced as it is so intertwined across the globe. I believe they will have no other choice than to remdediate at huge cost. It is therefore their dollars that could/would have gone to buying PC's for staff to upgrade the Pentium 90s that they have and the Word 95 packages to instead driving their Y2K fix. It is these dollars that I am talking about. I don't know...will the smaller companies that decide to up-grade that would not have otherwise be able to replace this? -Scott
