From Briefing:

08:39 ET Sun Microsystems (SUNW) 37 25/32: Following a
5 pt retreat yesterday, issue upgraded from "outperform" to
"buy" at Salomon Smith Barney. Firm says comfortable that
SUNW will meet Q3 estimates. Sets a price target of $53.
SUNW shares currently bid 2 pts higher.

I missed the chance to get cheap SUNW shares yesterday.

Dear Fred and all: OK- here's the skinny on what happened. SUNW was in a conference call with Morgan Stanley and another firm (just forgot their name) and SUNW briefly mentioned that S. Asia economic problems were effecting SUNW more than they initially thought. Well these guys put out the info (while the call was going on) and market immediately began a selloff. As soon as the SUNW spokesman learned of this (call was still going on) he said wait a minute, we will meet our numbers its not that big a deal. By then market was closed. But you saw what happened this morning--2 upgrades stock price up etc etc. Is this all kosher? Who the heck knows? But thats what happened almost word for word. JDN
