Jeff,

<Your contact mentioned that "I will have propane generators and propane heaters", is there a reason for propane?, why not natural gas?>

I wondered the same thing. I'll see what I can find out.

I've already learned, from what happened in Quebec and what's going on in Auckland - deisel generators catch fire after extended periods of usage. I'm curious about propane and natural gas - if they have the same problem.

Cheryl

Jeff,

Heard back from my friend at the PUC ...

"5 and 10 gallon propane tanks are easily obtainable/movable. Natural gas may not be available, and I do not want to store or try to transport diesel.

I would not be running a generator for very long periods of time. Just enough to keep the refrigerator cold. I can also cook and heat with propane.

If things look really bad I can obtain a 300 to 2000 gallon propane tank for a reasonable (at this time) rental fee. 300 gallons of propane would heat a 3000sf home in the winter for about a 4 to 6 weeks."
