Judging by the courses, books for NT, it is not much easier
to train for NT than Unix. Also, Unix is still taught at
the core for most comp sci degrees beyond BS, although this
may be changing (though things like Linux have taken over
where BSD left off). Nevertheless, as far as training goes,
I think MSFTs aggressive efforts to provide training and
support facilities has done much to encourage adoption of the
platform. However, Unix committed shops have in some cases
chosen not to let NT in just because of the costs associated
with trying to convert support resources. In most cases, all
our Unix staff are more likely to quit than be retrained, and
you will have to go out and hire those unavailable NT experts!

We shall see. I still feel NT will have to fight hard to
actually replace Unix in the short term, and that most of the
NT growth is in places that are choosing NT instead of going
to Unix when their computing needs expand to that level.
